Our Campus

Once upon a time a very few educational institutions were in existence. The colleges affiliated to M. S. University, Vadodara city were the only places for higher education for the students of Vadodara district. It was very difficult to get admissions in these colleges for the rural and interior village students. As a result, they had to give up higher education. But a Congress Leader and a Member of Rajya Sabha, Late Shri Maganbhai Shankarbhai Patel realized the need of education of the period and took a sincere initiative. He called upon a meeting of eminent personalities comprising of the former Member of Parliament, former Dy. Speaker, former Mayors and businessmen. They established Vadodara District Kelavani Mandal in the year 1957. The very first college was the Arts College affiliated to the Gujarat University. This college started its work in the building of Vibhag High School. In this college abut 140 students got admission in the very first year.

The well wisher and the leaders of Vadodara Distric thought of developing the college by having its own place. A total of 45 acre and 9 gunthas land was acquired from the generous donors and the government. Shri Chunibhai Nagjibhai Patel, Fartikuiwala, announced a donation of a very large amount for the college building and Atrs College got the name and the place if its own. The former Mayor Late Dr. Maganbhai Madhavbhai Patel blessed the science college by giving donation for Science College building. Thus Dabhoi Municipal Science College came into existence in the academic year 1962-63. The flow of funds did not stop. A Commerce College was started in the name of Smt. Savitaben Chunibhai Patel, Fartikuiwala, Commerce College. A huge amount was offered by Late Shri Girdharlal Contractor and the college was given a name of Sheth Motilal Nathabhai Contractor College of Education, Dabhoi.
